The Executive Committee represents a cross-section of Wairoa’s business community, encompassing retail, service, and professional sectors. Dedicated to strengthening and growing the local economy, the committee meets regularly to discuss opportunities, address challenges, and drive initiatives that support business and community prosperity. Through their diligence and collaboration, they work to ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for Wairoa.


I.L. (Sam) Jackman

President and Committee Chair, Sam brings a wealth of international business experience to the team specialising in advertising, marketing, promotion and economic development. Sam runs his own collaborative marketing agency in Wairoa.

Craig Curphey

Craig is Association Secretary and owner of the Wairoa Garage Limited. He is an accountant by trade. His business incorporates a number of well respected international franchises and brand franchise including Stihl Shop, Toyota, Yamaha, Castrol and Century Batteries.

Luke How

Association Treasurer, Luke is a partner of the local chartered accountancy firm Tarrant Cotter & Co.

Their accountancy firm focuses on serving the primary industry, with services that also extend into the commercial sector.

Sarah Johansen

Sarah is the fifth generation owner of the long established Osler’s Bakery and Café, a local icon since 1910.  With a large staff of dedicated bakers and team members all the beautiful food that is available instore is made onsite (bar a few gluten free sweets), right in the heart of Marine Parade, Wairoa.

Diana Hind

Diana, another born and bred local retailer owns Local Living the "little store with more" as it has been affectionately known. Her business includes fashion, footwear, nursery product and toys, wool and fashion accessories. Her online business caters to customers from all over the country.

Matteo Garbagnati

Matteo Garbagnati and his partner established their architectural practice in 2017 which emerged from a series of collaborative projects, some dating back to 2013 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In 2019 they relocated to Wairoa, drawn by the natural environment and the appeal of a simpler lifestyle.
